Health and Physical Education


This learning area includes 90 minutes per week of Physical Education in Years 7 to 12. In these lessons, students learn the basic principles, skills and rules of a range of sports. Physical Education is aimed at allowing students to experience a wide range of physical activities and the pursuit of recreational and competition sports.


Health is taught in Years 7 to 10 and teaches students to make informed choices about a healthy lifestyle. Topics covered include healthy lifestyles, healthy eating, fitness, emotional and physical well-being and relationships.


In Year 9 and 10, students can elect to participate in Outdoor Education which includes both land and water based activities. Students may also participate in Advanced Basketball in which focuses on skills and gameplay. These subjects give students an increased understanding of both the physical as well as theoretical aspects of various sports and the skills required to coach those sporting activities.


In Year 11 and 12, students can choose between Physical Education Studies and Outdoor Education.
