Welcome to What’s On in the Primary School at Austin Cove Baptist College. Next week is Science Week and we have an exciting range of activities designed to engage our students with the wonderful world of science. On Monday SciTech Science will be visiting us with a Bubbles Show for the younger children and a Flight Show for the Years four to six students On Tuesday we will be holding a Photo Water Scavenger Hunt in which students will be using clues and digital cameras to track down particular items to photograph them. Wednesday the Peel Zoo is visiting us. Drones & Decoding will be explored with our own talented Miss Yap And on Friday we celebrate the week with a Science Dress up Day in which among other things students will fund raise for the privilege to Stick the Principal To the Wall. Now that I am really looking forward to. In addition there will experiments in classes conducted by resident visiting science teachers. And if that’s not all, students will be encouraged to look for and identify Australian wildlife in the Wildlife Spotter program by using computers logged on to various cameras across Australia. So as you can see its an action packed week of good fun and rich learning experiences for all our students. The following week is Book Week and we are again offering families the opportunity to browse the Ashton Scholastic Books on display to purchase for themselves. And the school Library benefits from the sales too. Our House Athletics Carnival is fast approaching and it has been great to see the various classes out practising their Tunnel Ball and other team events. The House Sports Day for all Years one to six will be held at the McLarty Sports oval in Pinjarra on Thursday 25 August. More information will be on our website and in our newsletter in the coming days. Finally an invitation to families of Children in Years Pre-Primary to Year Two to attend the first of our Information afternoons on Tuesday 16 August commencing at 3:30. These one hour opportunities are to offer good communication lines on matters of interest to the parents of our school community. We hope to see you there. A similar meeting will be held for parents of Years three to six a week or tow after. I'm Keith Newby and What’s On will be updated in two week’s time. Thank you for your interest.
