I welcome you each week as I present to you a short motivation called ‘What’s On’ based on quotes from this week’s College Diary. I’m Orlando dos Santos, Secondary Principal, Austin Cove Baptist College. Mary Crowley founder of the multimillion dollar empire ‘Home Interiors and Gifts’ often quoted “worry is a misuse of imagination” Like Mary Crowley; I believe that what we imagine is a powerful tool in accomplishing our vision. The question is what is your vision? Is it filled with despair and hopelessness or is it for something better? Worry is a misuse of imagination. You may not think you have the capability or resources or perfect environment to accomplish your dreams and that’s where hopeless and worry can set in. Once worry sets in, it becomes the blue print for inactivity, hopelessness, lack of desire, frustration, anger and sometimes self destruction. Worry is a dangerous thought pattern to develop. Instead, we need to focus our thoughts on the possibilities with an attitude like Arnold Schwarzenegger ‘whatever it takes’ Know what you want to accomplish, and then it’s a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude! Your actions will follow your thought process. Your actions will become your habits and your habits will form your character. I’ve heard it said ‘the chains of habits are light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken’. What habits are you forming? Your thoughts of worry or hope are key in forming your habits. You have the power to form your habits by choosing your repeated thoughts and habits. It’s important that we don’t just trust ourselves but also trust God. I like what the Bible says ‘And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose.’ You will find these and many more exciting quotes in our College Diary as you sign off on your child’s activities each week.
