Category: Whats On

I welcome you each week as I present to you a short motivation called ‘What’s On’ based on quotes from this week’s College Diary. Jimmy Johnson stated “the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra!” Last week I shared with you the extraordinary life of the young Arnold Schwarzenegger. It wasn’t special talent that made him an extraordinary athlete, or a wealthy movie star, or a US governor. He lived by six rules that he established for his life which I would like to share with you today. He said rule number one: Trust yourself. He asks “who do you want to be – not what you do want to be but WHO!” Rule number two: Think big. Don’t break the law but break mindset boundaries. He suggests that “to do more than others, you have to go beyond their thinking.” Rule number three: Don’t be afraid to fail. He says “Don’t be afraid to make decisions, don’t be paralysed by fear. Believe in yourself. Believe in your vision, don’t fear failure. Just believe” He states rule number four: Don’t listen to the Naysayers. You and I will always have people around us who will say “It can’t be done” don’t listen to them. Listen to yourself and say “Yes, I can!” Rule number five: Work hard. There is no substitute for hard work. When others are sleeping or watching TV you’re working. I like what he says “No rules of success will work unless you do” Remember, “you can’t climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pockets”. And the final rule, rule number six: Give back. You must always find time to give something back to your community and your country. We are giving our school an opportunity with the upcoming Lap-a-Thon. I hope you take the opportunity to partner with us in this. Arnold Swartzenager was just an ordinary man with an extraordinary vision, self belief and commitment to hard work. You too can do it. - Trust yourself - Think Big - Don’t be afraid to fail - Don’t listen to the Naysayers - Work hard - Learn to give something back
